Imagine you’re having lunch with a new friend, and the topic of faith comes up. You share that you’re a follower of Christ, and they mention they’re also a believer, specifically a Jehovah’s Witness. Given what you know from previous discussions about Jehovah’s Witness beliefs, you recognize a difference in understanding who Christ is. This is an opportunity to share the true Gospel with compassion and joy.

To engage thoughtfully, start by asking about their beliefs. Ask how they became a Jehovah’s Witness, what it means to them, and how it has impacted their life. Listening will help you understand their perspective and give you insight into how they view Jesus.

Central to our faith is who Jesus Christ is. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Christ is a created being, even identifying Him as the archangel Michael before His incarnation. This view diverges from the church’s historic teachings and Scriptural accounts. Rather than assume their beliefs, ask directly about who they believe Jesus to be. This approach opens the door to a deeper conversation, allowing you to share the fullness of Christ and the beauty of a faith rooted in His true nature as both God and man.

When discussing faith, rely on the Holy Spirit to guide your responses. Share how Jesus has transformed your life, providing specific examples and aligning your testimony with Scripture. Emphasize the joy and peace that come from knowing Christ fully.

Explain why it’s essential for Jesus to be both fully God and fully man. Only God could pay humanity’s debt of sin, bridging the gap and offering eternal life through His love. Through Jesus, we have a personal, indwelling relationship with God.

As you talk, consider using the “Romans Road” to explain the Gospel simply:

  1. All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23).
  2. God demonstrated His love by sending His Son to die for us (Romans 5:8).
  3. Sin leads to death, but faith in Christ grants salvation (Romans 6:23).
  4. In Christ, there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1).
  5. Salvation comes through confessing faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9).

Share this message and let your friend see the Jesus you follow. Approach the conversation with compassion and the hope of sharing the joy of knowing Christ fully.
